In 1968, Chrysalis was established as a Centennial project under the University of Alberta. It was created by parents and community members who recognized the importance of providing equal opportunities for adults with disabilities to contribute to their communities. Chrysalis was one of the first agencies in the world designed to train adults with developmental disabilities to produce manufactured goods using automated machinery. This offered individuals with disabilities alternatives to staying in school or remaining inactive in their residential settings. Today, Chrysalis offers personalized services to thousands of people with disabilities. We help them receive training, develop life and vocational skills, find employment, discover volunteer opportunities, and improve their overall quality of life.
