The Toronto Catholic District School Board's Adult Education Program has a mission to provide high-quality language instruction and settlement services to adult learners, enabling their integration and full participation in Canadian society. The program welcomes individuals from all cultures, religions, and worldviews.
The program envisions adult education learners who understand and articulate their needs and goals, actively participate in purposeful learning, interact positively with staff and other learners, and respect school policies and protocols.
The program also envisions staff who promote equality and respect for each learner and each other, strive to provide inspiration and leadership, act responsibly and ethically in the best interest of learners and the program, and engage in ongoing professional learning to improve practices.
Additionally, the program envisions an environment that offers easy and equitable access to its services, provides a welcoming and safe environment, values teamwork and collaboration amongst staff, prepares adult learners for integration in the community, employment, further education, and career advancement, shares expertise and resources with other organizations engaged in adult education, and is accountable to stakeholders.
The TCDSB Adult Education Program offers language instruction and newcomer settlement support services at over 40 locations, with classes available during the daytime, evening, and weekends. The program provides a wide range of services, including academic and workplace preparation, conversation, citizenship preparation, literacy, and TOEFL, all delivered by university trained instructors and professional staff.
