Subtle Technologies

Subtle Technologies is a Toronto-based organization that was founded in 1997 to explore interactive installations. They hosted a weekend event called Subtle Technologies, which brought together artists, scientists, makers, and thinkers to share their work and ideas. The event was successful, leading to the establishment of the organization. Subtle Technologies has received support from various arts councils and has been led by Jim Ruxton until 2015. They have organized an annual festival that explores topics at the intersection of art, science, and technology, impacting the media arts and scientific communities in Canada and abroad. They have also partnered with cultural organizations in Toronto and offer year-round events and support for projects. Overall, Subtle Technologies serves as a platform for community building, knowledge sharing, and collaboration in the art, science, and technology fields.
