AIDS Vancouver is the first AIDS service organization in Canada, established in 1983. It provides support and services to individuals vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Currently, over 7,000 people from around the world access services from AIDS Vancouver annually. The organization is dedicated to responding to the changing healthcare environment and meeting the needs of the community. AIDS Vancouver's vision is to create a community with no new HIV infections and to support those affected by the disease. The organization values dignity, respect, diversity, privacy, and the participation of individuals and communities affected by HIV/AIDS. Its strategic intent is to prevent, act, and support through support, public education, and community-based research. AIDS Vancouver has been at the forefront of the epidemic response in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia since 1983.
