The Mobile Giving Foundation Canada aims to overcome barriers in using mobile resources and technology for fundraising and donor interaction by charitable organizations. By merging philanthropy with the mobile medium, we aim to expand the pool of contributors to include those who can only afford small gifts. Our past experience with emergency relief efforts has shown that the interactive nature of the mobile medium allows for impulse giving. The foundation will operate in Canada and serve global interests by providing the organizational element for charitable giving across wireless carrier platforms. We will ensure compliance with laws and regulations, develop and manage participation standards, certify registered charities and their campaigns, manage message delivery and billing solutions, assign short codes for mobile giving, and act as a clearinghouse between carriers and charities. Through the Mobile Giving Foundation, registered charities can leverage the ubiquity of mobile phones for fundraising and donor interaction.
