Metro Cinema

Metro Cinema is a community-based non-profit society located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our mission is to provide diverse and unique shared viewing experiences through the exhibition of film and media arts. We believe that film and media arts are significant forms of art and serve as a means of communication, discussion, and education. We showcase a varied selection of Canadian, international, and independent cinema seven days a week at the Historic Garneau Theatre. Our focus is on presenting educational, cultural, and innovative works that are not screened elsewhere in the city. With the support of a dedicated volunteer base, we distribute programs, facilitate discussions, and host artists. The Garneau Theatre, a historic movie theatre, is our home and offers an elegant 1940s ambiance, Dolby Digital Sound, and partial wheelchair access. We also feature art and alternative films, along with some Hollywood productions. Additionally, we are proud to be the home for The Rocky Horror Picture Show and offer matinees on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as discounts on Mondays.
