Meakins-Christie Laboratories

The Meakins-Christie Laboratories are a leading research center for respiratory diseases globally. Our research focuses on the pathobiology of pulmonary disease, particularly the role of inflammation. We employ a collaborative approach, studying the fundamental mechanisms of asthma, COPD, and pulmonary fibrosis using human cells and tissues, as well as animal models. Our research is supported by various core facilities. Our Research Directors consist of both PhD and MD scientists, ensuring a clinical perspective and promoting translational research. We also serve as a training ground for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, with a strong network of alumni worldwide. We offer weekly seminars, work-in-progress sessions, a journal club, and various activities organized by our student and postdoc association.
