Marie-Claire Durand is a versatile musician, singer, songwriter, and composer based in Montreal. She is known for her original compositions in both French and English, which range from conversational to humorous to meditative. With her own ensemble or as a soloist, she performs her compositions with various instrumentations. Her latest album, "Peu de mots" (2014), features a diverse collection of songs in different tones and sounds. Marie-Claire has also released previous albums such as "Mai" (2011), which includes original jazz compositions for a quintet, and "Takk" (2011), a genre-blending jazz-pop-rock trio. Additionally, she is the pianist and co-leader of the free-jazz trio Bean, who released the album "I (heart) Bean" in 2013. Marie-Claire collaborates regularly with Moe Clark, a Métis artist known for her songs and spoken word performances. In addition to her musical pursuits, Marie-Claire is also a teacher and cultural administrator.
