Katimavik is a Canadian organization that was established in 1977 with the mission of preparing youth to become responsible citizens who make positive change in their lives and communities. Over the past 35 years, Katimavik has provided more than 35,000 young Canadians with the opportunity to participate in its programs. After the federal government ended its financial commitment in 2012, Katimavik has been actively seeking new financial partnerships. Currently, the organization offers two programs, Eco-internship and the Canadian Youth Leadership Program, and is also developing partnerships for youth with an Aboriginal, First Nations, or Inuit background. Katimavik engages youth in volunteer service and fosters sustainable communities through challenging national youth learning programs. The organization aims to help youth gain life skills, work experience, and contribute to community development through volunteerism.
