Immunodeficiency Canada is an organization that focuses on providing support, education, and research for individuals with Primary Immunodeficiency (PI). PI is a genetically based disease that can affect anyone from any culture. It is commonly known as "The Bubble Boy" disease, with over 250 different forms ranging in severity. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent life-threatening complications, as individuals with PI often have repeated or chronic infections. Unfortunately, 70% of cases still go undiagnosed. Treatment options include bone marrow transplants, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, and replacement blood products. Immunodeficiency Canada aims to improve the lives of the estimated 29,000 individuals in Canada who suffer from PI by providing support, education, and research for a cure.
