Glen Shields FC

Glen Shields FC is a soccer club that has been active in the Thornhill and Concord communities in the City of Vaughan since 1982. The club has experienced significant growth over the years and currently has 24 representative teams in the youth division, ranging from ages 8 to 18, with approximately 380 youth members playing competitive soccer year round. The club also has men's and women's teams in the senior division. In 1998, Glen Shields FC became the first youth club in Canada to own and operate a professional men's team. The club has achieved numerous accomplishments, including five Ontario Cup championships, three Robbie championships, and various league and tournament championships. It also offers a full girls program. Glen Shields FC is a non-profit organization that generates revenue through membership registration, fundraising events, and sponsorships. It is governed by its Constitution and managed by an elected group of Directors. In 1997, the club hired a full-time professional Director of Coaching & Player Development to enhance its youth programs. To meet the growing needs of its membership and the community, the club expanded its programs by offering a soccer camp, which has become the largest camp run by any individual club in the Province of Ontario. While maintaining its traditional colors, club crest, and competitive uniform, Glen Shields FC recently adopted a new mascot, the Sun Devil, to create a unified icon for all teams and players. The success and growth of the club's programs rely on the dedication and support of its membership and volunteers. The club serves as an ambassador for community participation and contributes to the growth and development of youth and the sport of soccer.
