First Steps

First Steps is a unique organization that provides safe and healthy housing for pregnant and parenting young women who are homeless. We are the only organization of our kind and receive partial funding from the Province of New Brunswick. We serve all of Atlantic Canada and are active partners in New Brunswick's Poverty Reduction plan. Our programs and services support young women in areas such as mental health, education, addiction services, childcare, and support programs. We also help them develop parenting skills, financial management, and complete their education or training. Through our Second Steps program, we offer subsidized apartments to these young women, aiming to break the cycle of poverty for both the mother and child. Our mission is to ensure healthy moms, healthy babies, and healthy futures.
