Families for Addiction Recovery (FAR) is a national charity in Canada that was founded by parents of children who have struggled with addiction. Our main objective is to support families affected by substance use disorder and protect individuals, especially youth, who are struggling with addiction. We aim to achieve this by advocating for publicly-funded, timely, compassionate, evidence-based treatment and by supporting research in the field. Additionally, we work towards ending the stigma associated with addiction. FAR provides parent-to-parent support for families dealing with addiction and serves as a voice for families to influence government policies. We are a volunteer-run organization and our ultimate goal is to facilitate long-term recovery for individuals with addiction and their families.
