Eyaa-Keen Centre Inc. is an organization that offers Indigenous Mental Health Services to individuals who have experienced trauma. Our approach to trauma treatment and psychological rehabilitation is rooted in Traditional Indigenous practices. We believe that true wellness and thriving can be achieved by leading one's life based on Natural Spiritual Principles and Ways.
With over 25 years of experience, Eyaa-Keen has been successful in helping trauma victims heal and find peace through Traditional therapy. Our programs and services are specifically designed to improve the well-being of Indigenous individuals who have experienced trauma from various sources such as crime, suicide, family violence, child welfare, or the legacy of Indian Residential Schools.
In addition to addressing chronic mental health issues like anxiety, fear, depression, hopelessness, and grief, we go beyond traditional Western therapy and counseling by incorporating Indigenous Traditional based sessions. These sessions provide integrated physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual treatment, healing, and development.
At Eyaa-Keen, all our services and programs are based on Indigenous Traditional patterns of healing. We understand that these patterns are unique and multi-layered, varying for each Indigenous individual. Unlike Western therapy systems, we recognize and work with these patterns to create personalized healing plans.
Our ultimate vision is to establish Indigenous knowledge and practices as the foundation of Indigenous peoples' health and wellness. To achieve this, we provide a safe healing environment that acknowledges the unique characteristics and impacts of Indigenous historic trauma. We have a team of Indigenous traditional behavioral/trauma specialists, Indigenous Elders, Indigenous Language speakers, and cultural & ceremonial practices, offering a multi-faceted approach to natural healing.
