Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Regina

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Regina is a unique chapter among 24 other chapters in Canada. Our chapter is dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Rural Africa and equal opportunities globally through a systemic approach. We engage in various activities to bring EWB's vision to life. One of our initiatives is promoting fair trade products through the distribution of free fair trade coffee and chocolates. We believe that by giving people a taste of these products, we can encourage them to support fair trade and create more fair trade addicts. We also send a student every spring to work in our development programs in rural Africa, providing them with valuable experience and understanding of development. Additionally, we publish news stories and articles in local newspapers to keep Canadians informed about global issues. Through our Global Engineering (GE) program, we organize presentations and workshops to encourage first-year engineering students to consider the economic and social impact of the problems they solve. We aim to make GE a part of the engineering curriculum at our university. Furthermore, we hold interactive learning sessions with individuals who have worked on development in other parts of the world. We also engage with high school students through presentations and outreach events, partnering with the Education student society. To support our initiatives, we run fundraising events every semester and hold interactive meetings with Members of Parliament in Regina and surrounding areas. Our goal is to make every University of Regina student knowledgeable about international development and proactive in change initiatives. With our vision, motivation, and energy, we aim to create a ripple effect from Regina to the rest of the world.
