GIRLS Inspire is a project initiated by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in partnership with community organizations in Bangladesh, India, Mozambique, Pakistan, and Tanzania. The project aims to address the barriers that women and girls face, particularly child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM), which prevent their full participation in society. COL is an intergovernmental organization established by Commonwealth Heads of Government to promote the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources, and technologies. COL recognizes that advancing women's empowerment and gender equality are crucial for sustainable development and utilizes open and distance learning (ODL) to provide educational opportunities and create sustainable livelihoods for women and girls. The project is funded by the Government of Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australia. Empowering women and girls not only benefits individuals but also contributes to economic growth and prosperity for families, communities, and the world. COL, headquartered in Canada, supports developing nations in improving access to quality education and training by assisting governments and institutions in expanding the scale, efficiency, and quality of learning through innovative approaches and appropriate technologies. COL is funded by voluntary contributions from Commonwealth governments.
