Cinémaboule is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the distribution of cinematographic works and/or any other form of artistic expression.
The main objective of Cinémaboule is to quickly present films (other than American majors: auteur films, Quebecois, foreign, documentaries, and others) to the general public of Petite-Nation on the big screen and under the best possible conditions. As a film club, Cinémaboule also conducts film education activities.
Cinémaboule began its activities in January 1993 by presenting "parallel" films every two Thursdays for film enthusiasts in Petite-Nation, Outaouais. The films were screened in 35 mm on the big screen of the Théâtre Royal, a fifty-year-old theater in the village of Saint-André-Avellin.
In 2001, the Théâtre Royal changed ownership, was renovated, and became a multifunctional venue (music shows, theater, etc.) called the Théâtre des Quatre Sœurs. Cinémaboule made agreements with the new owner to continue renting the venue with projection services.
In September 2010, unable to afford the increased rental fees of the Théâtre des Quatre Sœurs, Cinémaboule temporarily moved to the venue of the Centre d'action culturelle de la MRC de Papineau in Saint-André-Avellin. The films are now presented in digital format.
Projects dear to Cinémaboule, in addition to regular screenings, include:
• ZOOM Festival on Quebec cinema
• Film education for youth and adults
• Documentary dinners with the presence of filmmakers
• Partnerships with other organizations or events (e.g. Musiqu'en Nous)
• Equipment rental and lending (projection kit: projector, player, and screen; digital camera).
Cinémaboule is a film club in Petite-Nation, Saint-André-Avellin. A member of ACPQ since 1994.
