CH Vancouver Island (CHEK-TV) is an independent, employee-owned multimedia company that has been serving Vancouver Island since 1956. In 2009, the employees and community members joined forces to save the station from closure. Today, CHEK remains committed to providing quality service to Vancouver Island and beyond. The station has received recognition for its newscasts, winning the Best Medium Market Newscast in Canada in 2016 and the Best Breaking News - Television award from the Jack Webster Foundation in 2017. CHEK is also a recipient of the Journalism Integrity Award from the Canadian Journalism Foundation.
