Canadian Independent Recording Artists' Association (CIRAA)

The Canadian Independent Recording Artists' Association (CIRAA) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to supporting Canadian independent recording artists. With over 9,500 members across Canada, CIRAA focuses on providing education, opportunities, and support to its members. CIRAA offers free programming to its members, including the Groundbreaker Grant, which encourages live performances and touring. This grant rewards hard-working artists who are building their audiences through live performances. Each month, CIRAA members can receive a $100 micro grant for each gig they have played, up to a maximum of $1,200. The Mentorship Program is another initiative offered by CIRAA, providing emerging independent artists with 15 hours of personalized, one-on-one advice from successful Canadian artists. This program aims to assist artists in navigating the rapidly changing music industry and foster career-enhancing relationships between mentors and mentees. CIRAA's podcast series, The New Indie, is a popular educational initiative that features advice, anecdotes, and expertise from leading industry professionals and artists. It provides current and relevant information on the realities facing independent recording artists today. Episodes are available for free to CIRAA members and can be downloaded as audio and PDF files. The organization is led by Executive Director Zack Leighton and Director of Member Services Jaime Payne. The Board of Directors includes President Gregg Terrence, Treasurer James Porter, Secretary Kathryn Rose, and Directors Pavlo, Ember Swift, and Dave Cool.
