Block Therapy is a bodywork practice that combines therapy, meditation, and exercise. It was developed by Deanna Hansen, a Certified Athletic Therapist and founder of Fluid Isometrics. Deanna discovered the benefits of this practice when she intuitively pushed her hand into her abdomen during an anxiety attack and experienced positive changes in her physical and mental health. She began applying this technique to her patients and saw immediate and outstanding results.
Deanna spent almost 14 years owning clinics and practicing Fluid Isometrics. In 2006, she started teaching other therapists about the benefits of this practice. Her goal is to teach people how to self-care, which led her to develop Block Therapy. This practice uses a handcrafted cedar wooden block called the Block Buddy to bring heat into the body and melt frozen fascia, promoting increased blood and oxygen flow. Over time, fascia can compress and cause various health issues, but Block Therapy aims to release these restrictions and improve overall health and healing.
Deanna's ultimate goal is to certify as many Block Therapy Instructors as possible. She has created an online teacher-training program to empower people worldwide to teach and share the benefits of Block Therapy with their communities. Block Therapy is designed to melt through restrictions in fascia tissue caused by aging, injury, and surgery. By lying over the Block Buddy and using body weight, gravity, and diaphragmatic breathing, the practice creates a heating effect that improves blood and oxygen flow to cells.
