École Alpha Secondary School

École Alpha Secondary School is a public high school located in Burnaby, British Columbia. The school offers a wide range of educational programming, including French Immersion, Advanced Placement, and Honours courses. Additionally, Alpha provides Ace-It programs for students interested in earning professional certification as a hairstylist. The school also offers the Fitness Leadership Program, which provides students with Douglas College credits and national certification as weight training instructors and personal trainers through Canadian Fitness Education Services (CFES). Alpha has an integrated honours program called Discovery for Grade 8 students. In 2008, Alpha students earned over $410,000 in scholarships. Alpha Secondary School also offers a variety of leadership opportunities through its over 30 clubs and councils. The main leadership groups include Students' Council, Music Council, Fine and Performing Arts Council, Grad Council, The Offence, and e-club. These groups organize events that contribute to the school culture and also work towards improving the local and global community. In terms of athletics, Alpha Secondary School has achieved notable success. The school's boys soccer team placed 2nd in the 2002 Provincial AAA Boys Soccer tournament and became champions in 2003. The volleyball team placed 3rd in the 2005 Provincial AAA Volleyball tournament and became champions in 2006. They also placed 2nd in the 2007 Provincial AAA Volleyball tournament. In addition, the rugby team placed 2nd in the 2013 Provincial AAA Rugby tournament, and the junior girls soccer team became champions in the 2013 BNWSSAA Junior Girls Soccer tournament.
